The Creativity Gap: How the
Arts Inspire a
Creative Society |
In November
2003, The Canadian Conference of the Arts held their annual
National
Policy Conference at the Neptune Theatre in Halifax,
Nova Scotia. The conference presented cross-sectoral dialogues
to emphasize the integral and leading role that the arts
play in ensuring an innovative and creative future for
Canada. In addition to programming speakers from the cultural,
scientific, research and business sectors, Katherine Watson
produced a program of vocal presentations representing
the rich diversity of Nova Scotia that wove through the
conference; these included hip hop and blues, Acadian
and Mi'kmaq vocalists. She also invited emerging local
artists to capture images of the conference that were
presented in a live video re-mix in a closing night event
at the Khyber Centre for the Arts. |
