53 Bytes in a Movement |
During
her tenure as Associate Director, Le Groupe Dance Lab,
Katherine Watson was responsible for the research, partnership
development and production of "53 Bytes in a Movement"
an international dance experiment that spanned the Atlantic
and brought together dancers located in Ottawa and Berlin
in real time, via broadband technology. Initiated in 1995,
this was groundbreaking work: the first time this innovative
bi-directional communications technology was used for
creation and performance. The project garnered a national
art and business award for the key technology partner,
Newbridge Networks, and resulted in television documentaries
that aired on Bravo! and the Discovery Channel. Other
partners were: Hiérapolis, Deutsche Telekom, CANARIE,
Sony, Videotron, Téléglobe, Siemens, and the CBC. |
